Revisions

Here are my revisions to my mags. Edge Ignore the weird white lines breaking up the picture... it happened when I exported as jpeg from indesign.  And here is Spring

Edge: I feel that the type still isn't quite right on this image. It's too delicate and precious, and the red isn't sitting well on top of the image. It works ok on the Folk Art line, but the main feature isn't working as of now. The leading is really open on the main as well.

What does this look like without the border? Also, watch the placement of your slogan. It's sitting a bit awkwardly in the corner, maybe it should be more balanced in that space. It's tight to the right corner.

Spring: Watch the interaction between your first feature and your slogan, esp. the repetition of "love" .

I'd move the masthead over to the left so it sits more comfortably above the cliff.

Look at your indicia. It's uneven in the leading, and quite close to the bottom of your page. You could extend the white box for the upc a little and put the price in there.

Edge:
Ryan brings up a lot of really good points here.. keep fine tuning. Also, you might want to shrink down the barcode a little so that it's not as noticeable.

Spring:
Again, Ryan hits on the main points that you'll want to tweak. I'm not sure that the tagline works where it's currently located.. it feels more like a feature article than the tagline. how about arranging it where the cliff and water meet? I love the placement of your features.. this is gonna be a great cover.. keep working!

Made some changes, here is Spring revised http://www.flickr.com/photos/30204048@N08/2944394003/ and here is the revision of Edge http://www.flickr.com/photos/30204048@N08/2944382669/ I also tried it without a border and I really don't find it attractive. I think that the masthead looks better wither the border around the page. But here it is if you want to see it http://www.flickr.com/photos/30204048@N08/2944382883/ It just feels less solid to me
