- Warrantless Wiretapping
Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, President Bush, in a highly contested move, executively ordered the NSA to wiretap communications between U.S. citizens and suspected terrorists without warrants, and in some cases without any probable cause. This directly affects our freedom of speech, and turns the government on its on country.
- Gun Control
The debate over gun ownership continues in the 2008 presidential campaign. It's centered on the Second Amendment to the Constitution, protecting a person's right to bear and keep arms.
-The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
An international treaty opened for signature in 1968 and currently signed by 189 nations to stop the production of nuclear weapons, disarm current weapons and peacefully use nuclear technology.
Opponents to the NNPT view it as a threat to the so-called 'Nuclear Deterrence'; that is, the school of thought that views the destructive capability of nuclear weapons as their central mechanism for resistance of their very use. Proponents view this treaty as a step towards a nuclear free world.

These are all interesting topics but warrantless wiretapping seems the most potent for simple persuasive imagery. The issue is already fairly focused in your description which puts you one step ahead in your strategy. And it is an issue that reaches out to many different people. Privacy issues cross the party line. In other words, many people can be persuaded to come to the polls for this issue. Gun control seems less current for this election. Neither major candidate is suggesting banning gun ownership. The issue is more subtle, i.e. licensing restrictions, bans on certain automatic weapons, etc. This issue will be harder to focus and still be dramatic than the first one. The Nuclear Non-Profliferation Treaty is a great topic. It is a tough one for the poster because the issue is complex. Your poster, I assume, would argue for or against signing the treaty and then use that as a reason to vote. You need to really focus the reason for your stand on the issue by communicating clearly (and relevantly) to 18-24 years olds why they should or should not want the US to sign. There are many reasons on either side, so work to focus on just one powerful reason.
Wiretapping is a great topic. Emotional and deals with major governmental concerns as well as citizen's rights. Great topic.
The other two are a little more ambiguous, but still worthwhile.
